Forgiveness
Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you will
receive them, and you shall have them.
Mar 11:25 And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any: that your Father
also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mar 11:26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Seems simple enough, doesn't it? But many of us can not do this. We ask for the Father to help us
in our times of grief and sorrow, and he does help us, and we see the help if we believe. But if the
reason you pray to the Father is for justice in a wrong that has been done to you or your family and
you cannot forgive the wrongdoer, the Father cannot forgive you.
Many of us have said "Oh, I can forgive but I won't forget." Well in other words you are not forgiving
because deep down inside of you there is a dark burning resentment that keeps gnawing at you.
The Father when he comes into your spirit sees that anger and leaves because until you put that fire
out he can't and won't do anything.
You say "How can I totally forgive?" Good question. This is something I have had trouble with for
years. But I finally realized that the hatred I still bore in my soul because of remembering the wrong
that had been done to me was causing far more hurt to me than any injury I have ever had.
Okay so how do we do it. How do we totally forgive those who have wronged us? We totally have
to wash the thoughts out of our minds of whatever it was. We have to be sincere in our forgiveness.
We have to pray for the strength to keep us from holding these thoughts. If we do this we can expect
the Father to forgive us. Otherwise no amount of praying can really help if you don't totally forgive
and mean it.
Heavenly Father, We come to you today asking for the strength to totally forgive those who have
wronged us. We know that if we can't forgive, you can't forgive and we ask that we be given the ability
to be a truly forgiving Christian in your eyes. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.
